Within the framework of the project for housing condition survey, At least 300 residential units will be covered. A detailed assessment will be conducted during this project that will cover structural, physical and environmental conditions of houses in selected neighbourhoods of the historic urban core of Jerusalem.
The project aims to identify the main problems in the housing stock, and thus to provide indications of the condition of housing, and classify priorities and needs in the housing sector in the Old City of Jerusalem which will provide a technical basis for interventions.
“The Restoration and Rehabilitation of Housing in Jerusalem's Historic Urban Core”, is a three-year project implemented by the Welfare Association and funded by the EC.The project’s objective is to improve the housing conditions of Palestinians living in the Old City of Jerusalem and provide them with better services, while protecting the historic fabric of the houses and preserving the architectural heritage of the Old City of Jerusalem according to international laws and standards. The project also aims to build the capacity of professionals working in the field of conservation through a special training program and through special documentation and publications.
